When Joel Embiid dropped 50 on the Bulls

In this story:
Philadelphia 76ers Joel Embiid finally broke through and won his first Most Valuable Player award after falling short on several occasions. It was a well-deserved victory for the outspoken big man who was dominant all season long. He finished with averages of 33.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.0 steal, and 1.7 blocks per game to help the Sixers snag the third seed in the Eastern Conference.
The Cameroonian has been a problem for opposing teams, and especially for the Chicago Bulls on February 19, 2021, when he torched them for a sizzling 50 points.
Put it all together
Embiid was in a zone during that game as he shed whatever defensive coverage the Bulls threw at him and finished with 50 points, 17 boards, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 4 blocks, to carry the Sixers past the Bulls, 112-105.
Embiid also put his various skills on display that day—from short jumpers to strong drives to the rim to his fierce defense that denied the Bulls' Zach LaVine down the stretch. Afterward, Embiid declared himself to be "unguardable."
"That's what makes me unguardable," Embiid said. "If you're going to crowd me, I'm going to find my way to the free throw line, or I'm going to end up at the basket. If you back up on me, I've got the hesi -- that hesitation shot -- and my favorite, just pull-up shot. That's just an easy shot I always get in the post."
Makes the game easier for everybody else
Embiid's overpowering presence on both ends of the floor certainly made the game easier for his teammates. In the case of veteran forward Tobias Harris, he had high praise for his big man after that momentous game.
"I'll tell my kids one day I played with Joel Embiid," Harris said. "When they'll ask me who is the best player I ever played with, I'll say Joel Embiid. It's an honor to be out there with him on the floor."
