We're officially in the dog days of the offseason. All of the big-time free agents have signed and the NBA Summer League has wrapped up with the Cleveland Cavaliers taking home the championship. It's just a waiting game for players to start reporting to training camp in just over a month's time.

But the Cavs still may have something up their sleeve. The team who was one of the most active in free agency may still make another move before the regular season starts.

Cleveland could still add more three-point shooting to their roster along with another big man. They can find both of those needs in Charlotte Hornets' restricted free agent, P.J. Washington.

The key word here is "restricted."

It's not as easy as agreeing to a deal, signing the player, and adding him to the roster. The Cavs can negotiate with Washington, but the Hornets could always match any offer Cleveland makes. It's also not uncommon for restricted free agents to sign with another club as a part of the sign-and-trade, similar to how the Cavs acquired Max Strus.

A sign-and-trade could be on the table as the Hornets are reportedly unwilling to offer Washington a long-term deal. Cleveland.com's Chris Fedor also reported earlier last month that the Cavs had expressed interest in Washington.

This may explain why Cleveland has yet to fill their one empty roster spot while still needing another forward alongside Jarrett Allen, Evan Mobley, and Georges Niang.

P.J. Washington would be a great fit for the Cavaliers. If they can work out a way to get him it would greatly improve the team's depth.
