Virginia Tech sophomore guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker intends to enter the 2019 NBA Draft and hire an agent, he announced on social media.
Under the new guidelines, hiring an agent does not prohibit underclassmen to return to school -- though in the case of Alexander-Walker, that scenario seems unlikely.
The 6-foot-5 guard is projected as the No. 25 overall pick in the latest Amico Hoops mock draft. Other mocks have him being taken as high as the middle of the first round (with ESPN draft expert Jonathan Givony ranking him as the 22nd-best prospect).
Alexander-Walker averaged 16.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game this season, starting all 77 games of his college career.
The NBA draft is June 20.
