On top of that, Wade has indicated he wants to play for a championship contender -- which may be a sign he would prefer Cleveland.

Wade and the Chicago Bulls are likely to discuss a buyout at some point this season, though according to Wade, the sides have not spoken.

"The only thing I'll say is right now my plan is to be in training camp," Wade told the Chicago Tribune.

He later told NBA.com, "When the time is right for me and the Chicago Bulls organization to sit down and talk about the future, we will do that. ... Hopefully, we get an opportunity to sit down and talk about the direction and go from there. I'm 35 years old. I'm a grown man. I can definitely sit across the room from you and listen to your truth and hopefully (you) hear mine."

As for the Cavs, James' camp reportedly is confident Wade would choose Cleveland over other potential destinations.

“First of all, obviously, everyone wants to compete,” Wade told NBA.com. “It's no secret. We would all love to compete for a championship at the end of my career. That is one thing I would love to do. I'm not in a position right now to do that so I can't talk about what that preference is. Hopefully, one day before I'm done playing this game, I can be back in position to compete for a championship.”
