Celtics Star Ruled Out for Monday's Game vs. Hornets

Fresh off a 104-92 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday, the Boston Celtics cap their six-game road trip against the Charlotte Hornets Monday night in the Queen City. 

The visitors enter their second encounter with Grant Williams this season sitting comfortably atop the NBA standings, boasting a 58-16 record. They're six games ahead of the team in second, the Oklahoma City Thunder, who visits TD Garden on Wednesday. 

The C's have clinched home-court advantage in the East and they're three games from securing it for the Finals, should they get there.

As they aim to finish their road trip on a high note, they'll have to do so without Jaylen Brown. The two-time All-Star is dealing with a left-hand sprain, resulting in the C's ruling him out for Monday's game vs. the Hornets.

The Marietta, Georgia native registered 17 points, seven rebounds, six assists, a steal, and a block in Saturday's victory in the Crescent City. He also met the challenge of guarding Zion Williamson with force and physicality, which, coupled with funneling him to disruptive team defense, limited the six-foot-six, 284-pound forward to 4/11 shooting and four turnovers in the final three quarters.

After the win, Brown conveyed of his left-hand injury, "I'm gonna get that looked at when we get back to Boston," adding, "It's been bothering me for a little bit now."

Fellow starter Kristaps Porzingis, initially listed as questionable for Monday's matchup due to right hamstring injury management, will be in the lineup against Charlotte. The seven-foot-three center generated 19 points, 10 rebounds, four blocks, and two steals in the victory vs. New Orleans.

Jaden Springer, who's missed Boston's last two tilts due to left knee tendinopathy, remains inactive. So does JD Davison, also out for the third straight game, because of a left ankle sprain he suffered in a G League matchup on Wednesday.
