In this story:

The Mavericks' injury woes somehow got even worse against the Clippers as sharpshooter, Klay Thompson exited the game at halftime with an illness and never returned to the contest.

The defending Western Conference champions won't have any time to dwell on their issues as the Mavericks and Clippers are set to go right back at it on Saturday night in Los Angeles as the second part of a back-to-back set.
With star big man Anthony Davis not available for Friday night's loss with what the Mavericks called an abductor injury, coupled with the possibility of Thompson's illness carrying over, Jason Kidd will likely be dealt a short-hand for a second-straight night in LA.
Both Davis and Thompson's official status won't be revealed until closer to game time. One player that will certainly be unavailable for Saturday night's contest is nine-time All-Star guard Kyrie Irving, who's still working his way back after tearing his ACL against the Sacramento Kings in March.

Irving's 2025 season is officially over, but the former NBA champion was as effective as ever during his 50 games this season, averaging 24.7 points per game while adding 4.8 rebounds and 4.6 assists per contest.
The season-ending injury to Irving and recent injury issues with Davis and Thompson are just the cherries on top of a nightmare 2025 campaign for the Mavericks, who of course, traded five-time first-team All-NBA playmaker Luka Doncic for the aforementioned Davis and just one first-round pick in perhaps the most shocking trade in league history.
The Mavericks and Clippers tip-off on Saturday night at 10:30 p.m. EST.
