The Dallas Mavericks made one of the most head-scratching trades in NBA history last week, sending 25-year-old superstar Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers to bring in Anthony Davis. Granted, Davis is a proven star in this league, but Doncic is hands-down consistently a top-three player and is coming off an NBA Finals appearance.

Many reports suggested that the Mavericks wanted to move on because of Doncic's conditioning and health issues, already missing 30 games this season.

In Davis' first game in Dallas, he suffered a left adductor strain that is expected to sideline him for a month. Davis has always had injury concerns, so the Mavericks trading their 25-year-old superstar for a 31-year-old injury-prone All-Star is certainly a questionable move.

Nine-year NBA veteran and former Memphis Grizzlies forward Chandler Parsons reacted to the narrative about Doncic's conditioning following the trade.

"You look at both of these, Anthony Davis, Luka, there's been more question and concern on AD's health than Luka's health," Parsons said. "That's why I never really understood this narrative about Luka being out of shape or not available. He plays more than Anthony Davis and he's six years younger. So the whole justifying of that never really made sense to me or added up to me."

The Mavericks have put themselves in a position to compete for a title with a duo of Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis, but their whole plan is heavily relying on their new star big man to stay healthy. With Davis now injured and Doncic set to make his Lakers debut on Monday, the blockbuster trade is looking more lopsided by the day.
