Ja Morant Gives Concerning Update on Hand Injury

In this story:
Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant re-injured his hand on Sunday afternoon, and while X-rays came back negative, the star point guard believes his Game 2 status is in jeopardy. Unable to do much of anything with his injured hand after the game, Morant admitted that he is uncertain about Game 2:
Ja Morant says his status for Game 2 is “in jeopardy.” He was downtrodden and not even able to use his right hand to undo a balled-up pair of socks. “Feels like it’s one thing after another.”

Morant's playoff run was cut short last season due to an injury in the second round vs. the Golden State Warriors, which adds context to his "one thing after another" comment. The Grizzlies are already without Steven Adams and Brandon Clarke, which puts them at a disadvantage up front, and they now may be without their star point guard as well.
While nothing has been determined yet, and Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins confirmed that X-rays are negative, Morant's comments make it hard to feel optimistic about his status going forward. One of the game's best competitors, Morant will certainly do all he can to be available for his team, but he was clearly in a significant amount of pain after Sunday's Game 1 loss.
Having now lost home court advantage with this loss, the Grizzlies will need to win one in LA to win that back. The NBA's best home team this season, Memphis was unable to protect their home court in this opening game, and now face immense pressure to win Game 2.
