According to Lucas Finton of The Memphis Commercial Appeal, Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has been subpoenaed to testify in the lawsuit related to his incident with Joshua Holloway last summer.

Morant and his friend Davonte Pack were involved in a physical altercation last summer with then 17-year-old basketball player Joshua Holloway over a pickup basketball game. Morant's lawyers have admitted the Memphis Grizzlies star hit Holloway, but only in self-defense, which is what this ongoing lawsuit is primarily focused on.

Morant's lawyers have been granted permission to argue self-defense in civil court, which was one of the most recent updates in this case, with the most recent being Morant's subpoena. According to Finton, "Morant's testimony would come during a three-day hearing over whether he would be granted immunity from the lawsuit under Tennessee's stand-your-ground law. Shelby County Circuit Court Judge Carol Chumney ruled the law applied to the case in mid-November, and the hearing on whether Morant acted in self-defense is scheduled to run from Dec. 11 through Dec. 13."

While no criminal charges remain for Morant or Pack, as Pack's were recently dropped and Morant was never charged criminally, lawsuits remain on all sides. This is where Morant's subpoena comes into play, which is the latest development in the ongoing case for an incident that occurred last summer between Morant, Pack, and Holloway.
