NBA Insider Reveals Shocking Financial Impact of Ja Morant's Suspension

In this story:
The NBA announced on Friday morning that Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant will be suspended for 25 games to begin the 2023-24 season. If Morant does not appeal, this suspension will automatically disqualify him from All-NBA honors next season due to the CBA's new 65-game minimum rule, which comes after the star point guard missed out on All-NBA this past season as well.
While it's not a guarantee that Morant would have made All-NBA last season if not for his first gun video incident, NBA insider Brian Windhorst believes the Grizzlies star would have certainly made one of the teams without that incident and suspension. According to Windhorst's estimate, Morant's two gun incidents will cost him at least $50M dollars between lost salary, bonuses, and potential sponsorships.
"[Ja Morant] is at least looking at $50M in losses. ... It's as bad of a penalty as we've seen in the history of professional sports."

With his first eight-game suspension not being enough to change his behavior, the NBA is hoping that Morant will finally get back on track following this 25-game suspension. The stance of the league has remained consistent since Adam Silver first spoke on Morant's actions. The NBA wants to ensure they are holding the Grizzlies star accountable for his actions, while also making sure he is getting the support he needs in order to be the best representation of himself and the league.
Set to lose out on around $50M according to Brian Windhorst, Morant's actions have come at a high price.
