Zion Williamson's Status vs. Memphis Grizzlies Revealed

The New Orleans Pelicans are facing the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night, and they are listing Zion Williamson as questionable on their injury report. The Pelicans are calling it a left foot bone contusion for Williamson, who missed their last game vs. the Portland Trail Blazers.

While availability has been a major issue for Williamson throughout his career, it has been much less of an issue this season. Staying mostly healthy for the Pelicans this season, Williamson has played 42 of their 53 games. While that of course is still a decent amount of time missed, it's nothing in comparison to previous seasons.

Entering this season, Williamson had played more than 60 games just once in his career, which was his second season in the league. Outside of that year, Williamson played just 24 games in 2019-20, none in 2021-22, and just 29 last season. This makes his improved availability this season a big story, and it's one of the biggest reasons the Pelicans are tied for 5th place in the Western Conference.

New Orleans has been solid this season, but still has work to do in order to avoid the play-in tournament. Just a half-game above the 7th seed, which is that first play-in spot, New Orleans needs to keep winning games if they want to guarantee themselves a spot in the playoffs.
