Miami Heat Could Target Free Agent Christian Wood

In this story:
The Miami Heat are a potential destination for free agent center Christian Wood.
There is some speculation according to a report from Yahoo! Sports.
Wood spent last season with the Dallas Mavericks, averaging 16.6 points and 7.3 rebounds while shooting 51.5 percent from the field. He was heavily underutilized in the Mavericks system, only starting in 17 games. He could thrive in with the Heat, who are in desperate need of a center to back up All-Star Bam Adebayo. Wood could also play alongside Adebayo at power forward with his 6-foot-10 frame and ability to stretch the floor. He shot 37.6 percent from beyond the arc last season.
Before his time in Dallas, Wood spent two seasons with the Houston Rockets, averaging 19.5 points and 9.9 rebounds.
When used correctly, he is an versatile scorer at the center or power forward. If given the right opportunity, he could average over 20 points. He would allow the Heat to stretch the floor with some much-needed rebounding outside of Adebayo. Wood could take a lot of pressure off Adebayo on both ends. Although he is not a great defender, an interior presence would certainly help.
Wood is expected to become an unrestricted free agent because the Mavericks are reportedly not interested in re-signing him.
