Miami Heat Sending Reinforcements To Sioux Falls For G League Playoff Race

The Miami Heat are competitive often when it comes to making the playoffs.

And that applies to all levels.

The Heat are sending part-time call-ups Jamal Cain, Orlando Robinson and Nikola Jovic to play for their G League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce. The Skyforce are going for their first postseason berth since winning the championship in 2016. Homecourt advantage is also at stake.

"We're going for it," Spoelstra said. "It's really important for their development. That's as important as any kind of drilling that we do or practice, weight work, all of the stuff in between that we do. Ultimately, you have to learn how to apply that stuff to be to impact winning. We have a great opportunity to not only make the playoffs but to secure a homecourt spot. We take that very seriously."

The Heat are one of the best developmental organizations in the NBA. While the call-up is always the goal, they also want to give players chance to compete for championships regardless of the level.

"That's fun for them," Spoelstra said. "They're all looking forward to it. It is playoff-style basketball, much like we're facing now. We want those guys to have those kind of experiences."
