LaMelo Ball Remains "Out" With Right Ankle Injury After All-Star Break

Ball continues to recover from Right Ankle Tendinopathy

There was hope that after an extra week of rest over the all-star break that LaMelo Ball might be available to return from his right ankle tendinopathy. However, the Charlotte Hornets' first injury report confirmed Ball remains out at least for the team's first game on the road in Utah.

Although the injury on the report is only listed as "R Ankle", the Hornets have previously listed Ball as suffering from Right Ankle Tendinopathy on the January 31st injury report.

What is Ankle Tendinopathy?

The Peroneals are muscles which both have tendons which travel down the outside of your lower leg, behind the bone on the outside of your ankle. The main function of your peroneals is to provide stability to your ankle when walking and prevent you going over on it causing an ankle sprain.

Ankle tendinopathy is a condition that often causes pain around the outside of the ankle or foot which eases with rest and worsens with activity such as walking, running and jumping.

Repetitive stress and micro trauma causes the normal ability to heal to slow which can result in injuries occurring within the tendon at a rate faster that the body can heal them.
