The New York Knicks are heading home after Game 6 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal set with the Detroit Pistons. Only time will tell if it's as winners of the series prepping for a second-round set with the defending champion Boston Celtics.

The Knicks have another opportunity to punch their second round ticket on Thursday night, as they own a 3-2 advantage on the Pistons with the series returning to Little Caesars Arena. New York had won each of the first two games in the Motor City before falling by a 106-103 final in Game 5 in Manhattan, necessitating the lengthening of the series, which is the only Eastern Conference first-round set that has yet to be decided.

New York is 3-4 in Game 6 showings since the turn of the century, including 1-1 last postseason. The Knicks took down the Philadelphia 76ers in six games before falling to in the Indiana Pacers in the final two games of the conference semifinals.

9:51—Thompson's block of Anunoby is ruled a foul, much to the chagrin of the Pistons fan gathered. Anunoby hits both free throws, the Knicks' first of the game (7-4 NYK)

8:02—OG Anunoby hits the Knicks' first three of the night off a Josh Hart offensive board, leading to a Detroit time (12-8 NYK) 

6:50—Bridges layup off a feed from Brunson gives the Knicks a double-figure lead and six straight points after the timeout (18-8 NYK)

6:02—An Anunoby foul puts Cunningham at the line, and he hits two to end the Knicks' run at 11-0. Dennis Schroder enters the game for Thompson (20-10 NYK)

5:48—Following the foul, Anunoby hits a corner three (23-10 NY)

5:10—Anunoby loses the Knicks' first turnover via a Hardaway steal. It becomes a three-pointer for Tobias Harris (23-13 NYK)

4:16—After a Schroder jumper briefly lowers the gap to one figure, Brunson scores five in a row, including a three that leads to another Detroit timeout. With 11 quick points on five field goals, Brunson has already hot more from than the field than the four he had in Game 5 (28-15 NYK)

8:21—Malik Beasley sandwiches an offensive foul with a pair of threes, pushing the gap below 10 (44-36 NYK)

8:12—Beasley is charged with a reach-in foul on the other end. Pistons coach JB Bickerstaff is charged with a technical foul for arguing the call. Knicks call timeout.

6:14—Brunson passes his 16-point total from Game 5 with a stepback jumper. He now has 18 on 8-of-11 from the field. (49-40 NYK)

4:44—Following another Beasley three, Cunningham finds Duren on an alley-oop. A Brunson foul gives him a free throw, which he hits to create a one-possession game (49-46 NYL)

9:51—After an exchange of doubles, Hart is charged with his fourth foul that puts Thompson at the line for successful singles. Hart stays in and the game is tied again (65-65)

9:32—Hart makes up for the foul and breaks the tie with a three (68-67 NYK)

8:28—Anunoby goes to the line after a Cunningham foul. He makes one of two, and is responsible for the Knicks' first miss of the night. Despite that, Detroit is already in the penalty (71-67 NYK)
