Lakers News: Insider Reveals LA's Plan for Darvin Ham

In this story:
Anyone who has watched your 2023-24 Los Angeles Lakers play this season likely came away frustrated. There have been moments where they look dominant, but others where they look completely lost.
Over the last month, Los Angeles has dropped in the standings due to poor play. Since winning the In-Season Tournament, it has felt like the teams' focus has waned.
With the Lakers' recent play, combined with a report stating that there was a growing disconnect between head coach Darvin Ham and the locker room, many believed a chance could be imminent. However, that actually doesn't seem to be the case at all.
Sam Amick of The Athletic reveals that the Lakers are planning to be patient with Ham. They want to see how he can continue to grow, giving him the benefit of the doubt as a new head coach.
"Two high-ranking team sources say there is a plan to remain patient with Ham as he continues to grow in his first head coaching job."
Per Sam Amick of The Athletic
Ham did take the team to the Western Conference Finals a season ago, so L.A. likely wants to see this entire season through. They can always make a judgment call after the year ends, but for now, he is the head coach.
The Lakers have circled through coaches over the years, so owner Jeanie Buss likely wants to let this play out. She knows how it looks to hire and fire coaches, so giving Ham a chance may be the best idea for the team.
"The hope from on high is that Ham can pull through, which means that improvement may have to come by way of trades — again."
Per Sam Amick of The Athletic
With the trade deadline coming up in a few weeks, the Lakers will have their work cut out for them. It'll be up to the front office to put them in a better place for success, and the clock is ticking on their season.
