Mikal Bridges Reveals Honest Thoughts About Kevin Durant on Suns

Mikal Bridges thinks Kevin Durant will be a great fit on the Suns

Mikal Bridges was ready to make a championship run with the Phoenix Suns before he was traded to the Brooklyn Nets this season. Despite his hopes and aspirations, he understands why the Suns had to make the trade for Kevin Durant.

Bridges was a guest on JJ Redick's The Old Man & The Three Podcast, where he gave a very candid answer about the Phoenix Suns acquiring Kevin Durant. The first thing that was going through his head, was how good the team was going to look once everyone became fully healthy again.

“I thought about how nice we were going to be, with everybody was coming back," Bridges said. "I know we’re losing me and Cam, but you get T.J., and you get KD. I feel like KD don’t affect on the defensive end as much as me, but he can still guard and we’re all team defense anyway. You got coach Mont that’s going to make everything great, and you know we all play for each other - they all play for each other, and you get 30 a game.”

Even though Bridges was excited to compete for a championship with the Suns, he fully understands why they had to make a trade for Kevin Durant. He knows that the team will be in win-now mode and that Durant will be a great fit with the Suns.

“So now I feel like, you know, I like them," Bridges said. "For them, with the new owner and what they’re trying to do, it makes the most sense. I understand they’re trying to win now. Do I think the Suns still could have won with me and Cam there? For sure. But you gotta do KD, man. That offense, and with coach Mont and those guys over there, that’s a helluva fit.”

Mikal Bridges was a great player with the Phoenix Suns, but he has the chance to become an even better one with the Brooklyn Nets. Hopefully, in these next few years, he can add the words "All-Star" to his resume.
