Nikola Jokic Ties Joel Embiid on Exclusive List

Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic has picked up right where he left off in the NBA Finals to begin this season, currently averaging 27.3 PPG, 12.2 RPG, and 7.7 APG for the 5-1 defending champions. With another dominant showing in Friday night's win over the Dallas Mavericks, Jokic tied Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid on an exclusive list:

With his sixth-straight game of at least 20 points and 10 rebounds, Jokic tied Embiid for the most such games to start a season since Embiid did it in 2018. Embiid did it exactly six times to start that season, so Jokic could pass him on this list with another such showing in his next game.

While Jokic is constantly breaking statistical records, he is focused on winning more than anything else. Jokic's stats help tell the story of his dominance, but Denver being 5-1 to start the season is what he really cares about. There were some who understandably felt Jokic and the Nuggets might come out slow to start the season, but they have been nothing but dominant through six games.

Handing the Mavericks their first loss of the season, the Nuggets now sit in a tie atop the Western Conference with the Golden State Warriors. The favorites most places to win the West, Denver is showing why they are still the team to beat.
