Rockets' 11-Game Win Streak Ends in Loss to Mavericks, Luka Doncic Erupts for 47 points

Luka Doncic scored his fourth-most points of the season, as the Houston Rockets' 11-game win streak ended against the Dallas Mavericks.

HOUSTON -- The Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks each came into the Toyota Center riding their respective winning streak. Unfortunately, the Rockets' streak came to an end amid 125-107 loss to the Mavericks Sunday night. Dallas extended its streak to seven consecutive wins with the victory.

Houston's longest win streak since the 2017-18 season ended at 11 while their league-best record in March dropped to 12-2.

The loss also pushed the Rockets two games back of the Golden State Warriors for the 10th and final spot for the Western Conference Play-In Tournament. The Warriors' four-game win streak extended to five following their 117-113 victory over the San Antonio Spurs.

The Rockets had no answer for Luka Doncic, who had one of his best scoring performances of the season. Doncic came out of the gates on fire by scoring 22 points during the first quarter, where the Rockets trailed 36-24 entering the second period.

He scored 10 points during the second quarter to bring his total to 32 at the half. He finished with a game-high 47 points on 18 of 30 shooting, 9 of 16 from behind the arc. It was a double-double performance for the five-time All-Star, who added 12 rebounds and seven assists in the win.

The Rockets had no player who could match the production of Doncic. Jabari Smith Jr. led the way with a team-best 28 points and seven rebounds, while Aaron Holiday came off the bench and added 16 points. Jalen Green's streak of scoring 25 points or more ceased at eight games. He scored 12 points on 5 of 15 shooting, six rebounds and five assists in the loss.

Cam Whitmore returned to the lineup following his nine-game absence due to a knee injury. He played 22 minutes and scored 13 points and five rebounds off the bench for Houston.
