Why Spurs' Blake Wesley 'Likes' Playing Suns

Blake Wesley scored 12 points for the San Antonio Spurs against the Phoenix Suns.

The San Antonio Spurs are learning from their mistakes after a 131-106 loss on Saturday night against the Phoenix Suns.

Saturday's contest marked the first of a home-and-home series with the Suns to close out the Spurs' homestand, and the two teams will meet again on Monday, something backup guard Blake Wesley is looking forward to.

“They (Suns) have three All-Stars, three Hall-of-Famers, so they're hard to guard, hard to play. But it's a good challenge for us," Wesley said postgame. "We get to play them on Monday, too. So, we’ll accept the challenge … I like playing them, it makes me better.”

Wesley certainly gets better when playing the Suns. He tied a season-high with 12 points on Saturday, and while that isn't necessarily an eye-popping statistic, Wesley has shown flashes in his second NBA season.

He's had to adapt to a new role playing alongside Wembanyama, and minutes have been hard to come by. However, he's taking everything in stride and he's making progress in hopes of becoming one of the players the Spurs invest more into as the rebuild continues.

Wesley and the Spurs are back in action against the Suns tomorrow night. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
