Gregg Popovich Sees Growth After San Antonio Spurs Win vs. New York Knicks

The San Antonio Spurs beat the New York Knicks, which pleased coach Gregg Popovich.

San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich is happy after his team pulled off a 130-126 win against the New York Knicks on Friday night inside the Frost Bank Center.

The win marked the Spurs' third consecutive victory as they continue to flash potential in the final moments of the season. Their growth leads hope to progress that will continue in the offseason.

“As I’ve said before, all teams lose leads in this league," Popovich said postgame. "The three-point shot allows for that. But, how you come back from it is important. If it was earlier in the year we would not have sustained our own execution, our own pace and that sort of thing. You can see the maturity that they have developed through the season."

It was a back-and-forth game that required a lot of physicality from San Antonio, but there was enough in the tank to prevail.

"Playing a very physical team, they gave what they got and stayed strong when New York made a heck of a run," Popovich said. "To me that’s the best part of the game. It shows that progression in what it takes to win a game in the NBA."

The Spurs are back in action tomorrow night when they host the Golden State Warriors at the Frost Bank Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.
