Former Suns PG Chris Paul Feels 'Sorry' for Teams Playing Warriors

Former Phoenix Suns guard Chris Paul is excited to play with his new squad, which can cause some problems according to his calculations.

Former Phoenix Suns guard Chris Paul will take the court with a new squad in 2023 after joining the Golden State Warriors.

It's been an interesting few months for Paul, who saw the Suns involved in trade rumors for a potential point guard replacement around the deadline before Phoenix ultimately landed Kevin Durant.

Paul's run in Phoenix eventually came to an end after the Suns crashed out of the postseason earlier than expected, spurring massive changes within the organization from the coaching staff to the roster.

Paul was part of said changes, being dealt to the Washington Wizards in a trade package that netted Bradley Beal in the Valley. Just a short time after landing in DC, Paul was dealt to Golden State.

He now finds himself playing alongside a trio that has dominated the league for the last decade, as Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green have led the Warriors to four championships since arriving to Golden State.

While Paul shares a backcourt with Curry/Thompson, it's the mentality he shares with Green that makes things tough for opponents:

“Yeah, Draymond is uhh ... I feel sorry for the other teams that’s got to play against both of us. Because he’s always been very vocal, as I am. I’ve always thrived with guys like that,” said Paul [h/t SI].

“I think when you compete against a team for so long and so hard that you have to have some type of appreciation for them, and the way that they play and the way that they share the ball and the selflessness of all the different guys on the team."

Paul will get first crack at the new-look Suns to open the regular season, as Phoenix will be in town as part of a opening night double-header on Oct. 24.
