Mikal Bridges Gets Candid on Suns Trading Him For Kevin Durant

Phoenix Suns fan-favorite Mikal Bridges opened up on Paul George's podcast on what it was like being traded for Kevin Durant.

Though he no longer plays for the Phoenix Suns, current Brooklyn Nets forward Mikal Bridges will always be a fan-favorite here in the Valley.

His play on top of his fun-loving personality made him quite easy to like, both from a fan and media perspective.

So when the Suns landed a massive trade for Kevin Durant at the deadline during the 2022-23 season, fans were quite sad to see the likes of Bridges and Cam Johnson go.

Bridges has talked about the transaction previously, though he was again asked about it on Paul George's podcast Podcast P:

“Tough, really tough. In the summer, KD [Kevin Durant] said he wanted to go to Phoenix. So it was kind of in the back of my head cause, we're not dumb like if you want to come here. I was going, and Cam Johnson knew we were going. I know it ain't Book [Devin Booker] leaving, and I don’t think it’s D.A. [Deandre Ayton],” Bridges said.

“I always made jokes to me and Cam, like, 'damn KD’s about to come here bro, pack your bags, we’re out of here'

"But then it died down, season came on. We was about to play Brooklyn the day before, we was going to practice and something about Kyrie coming to Phoenix [was reported] and it brought back the memories of the summer and I'm like 'ah sh--, here we go' and then when the KD thing happened, I was just like, 'damn'. I didn't think that was really gonna happen.

“Even when I got to Brooklyn that day before when we was about to play him, I was f------ around in the gym like 'this is my home' and I get f------ traded two days later. So it's like some karma on my ass for that one.”
