The Phoenix Suns were banking on acquiring talented veterans on cheap deals to fill out their roster heading into free agency - and it worked.

After pushing their chips to the middle of the table and acquiring Bradley Beal on the trade market, the Suns were able to land the talents of Eric Gordon, Yuta Watanabe, Keita Bates-Diop, Drew Eubanks and Chimezie Metu on the open market to balance a rotation that already featured Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton and Beal.

The Suns have been nothing short of praised since free agency opened over the weekend, and even the hard-to-impress Colin Cowherd dubbed them the most talented team in the league.

"Now let's talk about what the Phoenix Suns did what everybody said they couldn't do: They cobbled together a bench in two days, three," said Cowherd before going through some of the players and what they brought to the table.

"So you have smartly developed players, grown-ups off the bench - by the way, smart GM's can do this in a weekend. It is incredibly difficult to find stars. It's pretty easy to find people who want to play with stars. As far as benches go: They don't have to be great. The Nuggets just won a Finals with an eight-man rotation. ... This Phoenix team now has all the boxes to win a title."

Suns fans certainly hope Cowherd is correct. Phoenix fell just short in the 2021 NBA Finals before stringing together a 64-win regular season in 2022.

However, the Suns weren't quite able to get over the hump in either of their most recent playoff runs. 2023 could indeed prove otherwise.
