Top 5 Things Suns Fans Should be Thankful for

Phoenix Suns fans have more to be thankful for more than ever. Here's the top five things they'll think of at the dinner table.

It is the season of giving thanks, and for Phoenix Suns fans there is plenty to be thankful for so far this season. Here is are our top five:

5. Damion Lee

The most scrutinized part of the Suns' roster heading into the season was the bench.

What was expected from the bunch after Cam Johnson was elevated to a starter? Damion Lee was quietly signed on July 5 to help bring a winning role player, and he has looked even better than promised.

So far this season, Lee has been one of the best 3-point shooters in the game, ranking 3rd in the league at 50.8%, and made his presence known the first game of the season, putting in the dagger against Dallas.

He has only become more vital since injuries have sidelined Johnson and Chris Paul, bringing up Cameron Payne and Torrey Craig to fill in starting roles.

4. James Jones/Monty Williams Combo

Both have had to deal with quite a lot as of late.

From James Jones having to answer questions about soon to be former Suns majority owner Robert Sarver to trying to find a new home for Jae Crowder. I am reminiscent of when Eric Bledsoe infamously made it known he wanted out of Phoenix.

Then-GM Ryan McDonough quickly shipped Bledsoe to Milwaukee for Greg Monroe and a couple draft picks that were lost in the shuffle and never provided value to Phoenix. Jones taking his time to find the right move will be better for Phoenix going forward.

As for Monty Williams, the way he has handled all of the mounting injuries to the team and keep them winning in the top percentile in the league has been incredible to watch. He also had to deal with a very disgruntled Deandre Ayton to the third highest player efficiency rating at 17.95 is a feat in itself.

3. The New Uni’s

Some would say Phoenix had the best drip back in the 90s and now it’s back on the court once again in 2022! The Suns' Statement uniform brings back the nostalgia that Suns fans have been feeling.

I still give Jonah Hill credit back in 2018 for getting the ball rolling.

Phoenix also did a wonderful job in helping bring more awareness to the tribal roots in the Valley with the new City Edition Jerseys.

The Court too is straight fire.

2. Devin Booker

What can you say about the guy that you can't already? He’s been a scoring machine averaging 27.4 points a game. Has set a franchise record for scoring the most points through three games in franchise history. He then followed that up by scoring 421 points through the first 15 games of the season, another franchise record.

He looks well on his way to his third all-star selection, and hopefully this time in a less controversial way. *Knocks on wood* We look forward to him breaking the Jenner curse one day at a time.

1. New Ownership on the Way

Hopefully right now Robert Sarver is learning the error of his ways and becoming a better person. The product he chose to put on the court at times has been questionable and has been 100% dictated by money and not any interest in winning.

Why the Suns struggled for so long makes sense when you learn about how he treated his employees. You can read more about how we got there here. Who the new Suns owner will be is still a mystery, personally I’m pulling for Charles Barkley and Alice Cooper but we will see.
