Former Suns Forward Cam Johnson Could Receive Major Payday This Offseason

Former Phoenix Suns forward Cam Johnson could receive a nice contract in free agency.

Former Phoenix Suns forward Cameron Johnson is in line to receive a nice payday in the offseason.

HoopsHype is reporting that Johnson could receive a deal in the neighborhood of four-years, $90 million in free agency this summer. Johnson is a restricted free agent and the Brooklyn Nets will have the opportunity to match.

The Houston Rockets are reportedly one of the "several" teams that could target Johnson.

The Suns weren't able to reach a long-term agreement with Johnson before trading him to Brooklyn in the package that landed Phoenix Kevin Durant. Mikal Bridges was also part of that trade.

After being swept by the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the NBA playoffs, Johnson hinted at possibly returning to Brooklyn in his end of season media availability.

“It’s been a crazy season,” Johnson said. “I can’t tell you that enough. We tried to merge basically three teams into one starting lineup in February. That presents a unique set of challenges. We tried to fight through them. I think we did. I’m proud of the group for doing it and sticking together.

"There’s no friction. Everybody did their best to be on the same page. I’m proud of the group for that. It’s setting a foundation for what we can build.”

The Nets were applauded for their return from the Durant trade, as the duo of Bridges/Johnson on top of gaining players from the Kyrie Irving trade (Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney-Smith) gives Brooklyn a bright future after their failed attempt of building a super team.
