Bucks Receive Permission to Interview Suns Coach Kevin Young

The Phoenix Suns could potentially lose Kevin Young to the Milwaukee Bucks.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting the Milwaukee Bucks have received permission from the Phoenix Suns to interview for their current head coach opening. He also mentions that Young is a candidate for the opening in Toronto and is expected to receive an interview with the Suns, who recently fired Monty Williams.

It could be a musical chairs of some sort between Phoenix, Milwaukee and Toronto, as the Suns are reportedly looking to interview the likes of Mike Budenholzer (NBA championship coach who just got fired from the Bucks) and Nick Nurse (NBA championship coach who just got fired from the Raptors).

Along with those names, it's been reported by other NBA insiders that Young would also be in the mix in Phoenix, too.

The Suns fired Williams two days following another early exit from the postseason.

Prior to last season, ESPN highlighted Young as an associate coach on the rise.

"If it's alignment you're looking for, Suns associate head coach Kevin Young is a natural fit. Both the Suns' basketball ops crew and head coach Monty Williams regard Young as an essential hub to share ideas across the organization.

"It's a logical role for a young coach who excels at both listening and communicating. Young served as a head coach in the G League for six seasons, which gave him a foundation as an organizer and big-picture thinker.

"He has earned the respect of players with his work ethic and candor. He was a finalist for the Washington job last spring, where his sharpness impressed."

Young joined Phoenix's staff in 2020 as an assistant, earning the associate head coach role from Williams in 2021. Prior to joining the Suns, he spent four years with the Philadelphia 76ers as an assistant.

He has head coaching experiencing with three teams in the NBA's G League.
