NBA to Retire No. 6 Jersey in Honor of Bill Russell

The Athletic's Shams Charania reports the NBA will retire the No. 6 league-wide as a tribute to Bill Russell.

On Thursday, The Athletic's Shams Charania tweeted the NBA would unilaterally retire the No. 6 in honor of the late Bill Russell. 

According to Marc Stein, "Players who currently wear No. 6 will be allowed to keep doing so, according to the league, but Russell’s jersey number will not be issued again by any NBA team to any player."
