Not Even Devin Booker Wants to See Patrick Beverley Lose Money

Devin Booker was asked to comment on Patrick Beverley's three-game suspension and declined to answer, but he did say he wasn't a fan of players losing money.

Los Angeles Lakers guard Patrick Beverley has been suspended three games for body-checking Phoenix Suns center Deandre Ayton in LA's recent loss at the Footprint Center.

While Ayton wasn't looking, Beverley shoved him from behind, causing him to fall on the floor. A scrum from both benches cleared out as a result.

During his postgame interview with TNT's Chris Haynes, Devin Booker shared, “Pat Beverley need to stop pushing people in the back, man push them in the chest."

After the game on Inside the NBA with Shaq, Kenny Smith, Charles Barkley, and Ernie Johnson, Shaq shared his opinion on the situation.

“You got a guy that's sticking up for his teammates, and you want to play with a guy like that. You want to play [with] at least one guy that does not have all his marbles,” said Shaq.

"Now on the other side, like you said, it was a cheap shot. But he's known for pushing people in the back."

Joe Dumars, Executive Vice President and Head of Basketball Operations, announced Beverley's suspension this week. The suspension was based in part on Beverley’s history of unsportsmanlike acts, which also includes a similar shove to Suns point guard Chris Paul.

Per ESPN's front-office insider Bobby Marks, the suspension is without pay and will cost Beverley $268,965 in salary.

Devin Booker was asked following the game to share his thoughts on Beverley's suspension:

"NBA games, you don’t expect that to go down. So many more opportunities that we see each other than out there on the court. It is an emotional game. I would say things like that happen but not very often. Especially a push in the back," said Booker.

According to The Arizona Republic's Duane Rankin, "Devin Booker says he doesn't have a comment on Patrick Beverley's three-game suspension, but did say he doesn't like to see anyone 'lose money'" in a tweet.

The Phoenix Suns are 12-6 after defeating the Detroit Pistons on Friday.
