Suns Sitting Four Starters vs Lakers, per Report

NBA insider Shams Charania is reporting the Phoenix Suns will not play their major starters in tonight's meeting with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Phoenix Suns are set to battle the Los Angeles Lakers tonight, but will do so without some hefty names in the lineup.

NBA insider Shams Charania is reporting the likes of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton will not play in tonight's game.

The Suns are on the second night of a back-to-back after defeating the Denver Nuggets on Thursday to reach seven consecutive wins, the team's longest winning streak of the season.

Phoenix is 8-0 with Durant in the lineup, and although many fans were hoping to see Durant face LeBron James for the first time since 2018, a future meeting will have to wait.

Suns coach Monty Williams spoke earlier in the week about the potential plan for rest, now that Phoenix is locked into the No. 4 spot in the West.

"We're talking about it as a staff. We haven't talked about it with the guys. I feel like there's some things that need to play out first. Talking with the players, we feel like we have a decent idea of what we're trying to do with certain groups and certain combinations. I feel like the more games you play and work on that stuff, the better," he said at practice on Wednesday.

"I think you have to deal with what you have and you hope you can put the guys in position to be successful. But I think our guys understand the meat and potatoes of what we're trying to do. Whether that's spacing, whether that's coverages - I think we have a decent understanding of that. It's on me to put the guys out there and combinations together to be the most effective … I don't know if there's a right way to do it, I think you could come up with all kinds of answers. If you listen to too much of that stuff it will drive you crazy, so I'm trying to get the right information and make the right decisions."

The Suns will return home on Sunday to face the Los Angeles Clippers after tonight.
