In this story:

After long months of waiting through the summer, we've nearly reached the finish line of the offseason for the Phoenix Suns

The last time they collectively took the court together came in their Game 6 loss against the Denver Nuggets in the second round of the postseason. Massive changes have seen a nearly brand new squad and coaching staff enter the stage for the 2023-24 season, and we now know when they'll begin training camp.

According to The Arizona Republic's Duane Rankin, the Suns will begin camp on Oct. 3, just a few days ahead of their preseason debut on Oct. 8 when they travel to take on the Detroit Pistons and former head coach Monty Williams.

Phoenix will be ready to work under new head coach Frank Vogel, who has championship experience after winning the 2020 NBA Finals with the Los Angeles Lakers. The Suns expect to be a much more tough and defensive-driven team than in the past.

That should bode well when you evaluate Phoenix's scoring options - mainly the three-headed monster of Devin Booker, Bradley Beal and Kevin Durant. There's also good reason to believe Vogel can maximize the talents of Deandre Ayton, who didn't exactly get a long with Williams in the past.

The Suns impressed nearly everybody with a strong free agency class that featured several veterans signing minimal deals to come to the Valley, most notably names such as Eric Gordon, Yuta Watanabe and Keita Bates-Diop. The team re-signed Josh Okogie and Damion Lee, too.

Can Phoenix dethrone Denver? The Suns certainly believe they've got the proper pieces to do so in an uber-competitive Western Conference, and the beginning building blocks will be laid on Oct. 3 when camp commences.
