The Phoenix Suns improved to 7-5 on the season after defeating the Dallas Mavericks 123-114 on Wednesday night - though it wasn't easy, as Phoenix nearly blew a fourth quarter lead in the process.

The Suns have now won their last six-of-seven games which includes a four-game winning streak.

Without Jalen Green, it was once again Devin Booker (26 points, nine assists) leading the way for Phoenix - though every Suns starter scored in double digits.

Cooper Flagg was tasked to lead the Mavericks as Dallas was without Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis and Dereck Lively pre-game before losing P.J. Washington in the first quarter.

He finished with 16 points, six rebounds and six assists with three steals.

Here's how Phoenix's win unfolded:

First Quarter

The Mavericks began the game on an 8-2 run with four starters putting their names on the scoresheet, forcing Suns coach Jordan Ott to call a timeout just two and a half minutes into action.

After starting 0-4 from deep, Phoenix finally connected from thanks to Dillon Brooks.

Dallas began to creep away, up 25-18 entering the next timeout with just over four minutes left, and a Klay Thompson three officially pushed the Mavericks' lead up to ten.

However, the Suns quickly battled back before the end of the first thanks to a 12-0 run to close the quarter with a 30-28 advantage. Phoenix shot 50% from the field.

Second Quarter

Jordan Goodwin eclipsed his season-high of seven points early in the second, hitting a trio of threes and forcing an early Mavericks timeout.

That timeout from Jason Kidd worked, as Dallas went on a quick run of their own to trim Phoenix's lead to one with just over six minutes left in the first half.

Shortly after, the Suns emerged to a 54-45, their biggest lead of the night to that point.

The Mavericks got some unfortunate news when P.J. Washington was ruled out for the remainder of the night with a left shoulder injury with little time left in the first half.

Phoenix hit the locker room up 63-53. Booker led all scorers with 16 points at halftime despite going 0-1 from downtown.

Third Quarter

The Suns got up to an 18-point lead in the opening minutes of the second half, though Brooks managed to pick up a technical foul - which gave Dallas a bit of momentum to cut Phoenix's advantage down to six.

This was Brooks' first official tech of the year - though he previously (and bizarrely) was assessed one while he was out.

The Suns didn't waver, however, ensuring they kept a somewhat sizable lead at 95-80 after three. Dallas had 15 turnovers entering the fourth

Fourth Quarter

With eleven minutes to go, Dallas quickly cut their deficit to ten - though a pair of back-to-back threes from Allen forced Kidd to stop action with the Mavs down 16.

As expected, Dallas fought back to make things a 108-96 contest with just under eight minutes remaining - not allowing Phoenix to close things out just yet.

Ott was forced to call a timeout with their lead trimmed to just seven with 4:36 remaining, seizing momentum and putting pressure on a Suns squad that was just 1-4 on the road entering tonight.

Moussa Cisse fouled out with 2:36 remaining, leaving with nine rebounds and four rebounds in 15 minutes.

A few possessions later, it was a three-point game.

The two sides exchanged possessions before Allen hit the line and sunk a pair of free throws to push the Suns up by seven, which ultimately proved to be too much for Dallas before the final buzzer sounded.

What's Next

The Suns are back home on Thursday for the second night of a back-to-back, hosting the Indiana Pacers.
