If basketball fans didn't know who Noah Lyles was, they sure do now.

Lyles - a track and field star who just won three gold medals at the Track and Field World Championships - made a few interesting comments when it came to the differences between sports such as track and field and major American sports:

"You know the thing that hurts me the most is that I have to watch the NBA Finals and they have 'world champion' on their head," Lyles said (h/t USA Today) "World champion of what? The United States?

"Don’t get me wrong. I love the U.S., at times – but that ain’t the world. That is not the world. We are the world. We have almost every country out here fighting, thriving, putting on their flag to show that they are represented. There ain't no flags in the NBA."

That comment didn't fly with too many athletes, especially ones currently in the NBA. Some of the game's biggest stars - which included the Phoenix Suns' duo of Kevin Durant and Devin Booker - didn't hold their opinion back.

"Somebody help this brother," wrote Durant while Booker shared a face-palm emoji. Damian Lillard also chimed in with a colorful response and Aaron Gordon even said he'd beat him in a 200m race.

Arguably more than any other league, the NBA has representation from across the globe. Players from nearly every continent are just in the league, but also have prominent roles and leave their mark on every single night.
