Newport Beach Police Complete Investigation on Josh Giddey

The Newport Beach Police Department completed their investigation on Josh Giddey Wednesday.

Wednesday night, the Newport Beach Police Department released an official statement regarding their investigation on social media allegations surrounding Josh Giddey.

The social media posts, which surfaced in late November 2023, alleged that Giddey — Oklahoma City’s 21-year-old point guard — had been involved in an inappropriate relationship with an underage girl.

“After a thorough and exhaustive examination, we have completed our investigation into information that was circulating on social media involving Josh Giddey." NBPD stated. "Our detectives have reviewed all of the available information and were unable to corroborate any criminal activity related to Mr. Giddey. The Newport Beach Police Department. Is committed to ensuring that accurate information is disseminated to the public, while also ensuring the rights of all those involved.”

While the police investigation is now through, the NBA, which reportedly starting looking into the situation shortly after the social media posts were made, have yet to release any statement.

Giddey was made available to the media at a practice a few days after the posts surfaced, saying “Yeah, I mean, I understand the question obviously, but there's no further comment right now."

On a follow up question, Giddey said "I get the question, guys, I completely understand you guys want to know about it, but just for right now I don't have anything to say."

Giddey has continued to play for the Thunder this season, averaging 11.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game this season.
