Blazers Sign Shaedon Sharpe to Massive $90 Million Extension Ahead of Season

In this story:
The Portland Trail Blazers have agreed to a massive contract extension for guard Shaedon Sharpe, signing him to a four-year, $90 million deal ahead of the 2026 NBA season, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.
Sharpe has been one of the Blazers' key building blocks as a promising, young scorer who can create his own offense and possesses explosive athleticism.

Last season, Sharpe averaged 18.5 points, 2.8 assists, and 4.5 rebounds, marking a significant improvement for the shooting guard. He is entering his fourth NBA season, and the Blazers hope he keeps developing on both ends of the court.
Sharpe was selected in the first round of the 2022 NBA Draft with the No. 7 pick by the Blazers. He attended Kentucky, although he never played a game despite graduating high school early and enrolling during the spring.

Since coming to the league, he has seen his usage and role steadily increase, but there is legitimate buzz that the 2025-2026 season could be a true breakout season as he tries to improve on the boards and defensively.
"The staff and his teammates, we're pushing (Sharpe) to go be great and he was really good tonight in his minutes," head coach Chauncey Billups said regarding Sharpe's training camp development.
'Very Under Control'
"He just looked very under control at all times, got to where he wanted to get to. I thought defensively he was good. Went in there and got some really good rebounds for us. I think Shaedon can be an exceptional rebounder with his physical gifts. He had a good game."
Sharpe already can deliver spectacular dunks, get (fitfully) hot from beyond the arc, and use his handle to create space. If he develops a more consistent offensive plan while playing solid defense, his contract could become a great bargain.

The Blazers already have a young core with a lot of potential, with Donvovan Clingan and Hansen Yang looking like dynamic big men, while Scoot Henderson could still become an elite player.
The former Wildcat is one of the more developed players on the Blazers, and another step in his progression could help propel the rest of the roster going forward.
