Doc Rivers is expected to return to the Clippers next season as head coach

Doc Rivers is expected to return to the Clippers next season.

The Los Angeles Clippers were eliminated from the Western Conference Semifinals in Game 7 on Tuesday. Despite the loss, Clippers head coach Doc Rivers is expected to return to the team for the 2020-2021 season.

According to Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes, Rivers will be, "running it back next season."

The former NBA player was a big component to Clippers star Kawhi Leonard's arrival to the team but Leonard is a free agent after the 2020-2021 NBA season.

Rivers has been the Clippers' head coach since the 2012-13 season and has taken the team to the playoffs in six of his seven seasons with the club.

The Clippers finished the 2019-20 season with a 49-23 record.
