Former Lottery Pick Proposed as Warriors' Top Trade Target

Could the Golden State Warriors target this former lottery pick in a trade?

The NBA trade deadline is rapidly approaching, and the Golden State Warriors have yet to make a move. There have been several players floated as possible targets for the Warriors, but there has been no real indication that the team is planning to do something drastic. That said, several possible targets have still been proposed as options for Golden State.

In a recent article, Dan Favale of Bleacher Report created a list of trade targets for each NBA team, and had Orlando Magic big man Wendell Carter Jr. listed as the top target for Golden State. This is a hypothetical proposal from Favale, as opposed to any sourced reporting in Golden State's potential interest in a player like Carter, but the fit would certainly make sense.

While Carter would be a great fit with the Warriors, it was reported by NBA insider Keith Smith that the Magic are not looking to deal the former lottery pick:

This is one of the obstacles Golden State has when it comes to finding a possible trade. While there are a lot of hypothetical fits, those players are either unavailable or not affordable. There are of course options the Warriors could entertain, but it's a lot easier said than done.

It seems the Warriors almost certainly need to do something at the deadline, but the perfect trade may not be out there.
