Steve Kerr Makes Strong Statement About Anthony Edwards

In this story:
Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards led USA Basketball to a win over Germany in the final FIBA World Cup exhibition game on Sunday. Pouring in 34 points, Edwards was the best player on the court, which is something Golden State Warriors and Team USA head coach Steve Kerr spoke openly about.
"He's unquestionably the guy," Kerr said after the game, via ESPN's Brian Windhorst. "You can see he knows it. But now the team knows it, and I think the fans see it. ... He genuinely believes he's the best player in the gym every single night. And he's such a dynamic young player. I think he's taking a leap."
Edwards has been solidifying himself as one of the best two guards in the NBA, and may be taking a leap into another tier this season. The confidence of Edwards has always been something that stands out, and has been evident since his rookie year in Minnesota. With his play so far in these exhibition games, Edwards has emerged as Team USA's go-to guy, which is a role coach Kerr believes he is ready for.
Focused on bringing home gold, Team USA will lean heavily on Edwards and his ability to dominate offensively. With a roster of solid players around him, Edwards has an opportunity to do something special with Team USA this summer.
