Steph Curry Reveals Pick for NBA MVP

In this story:
The NBA's MVP award is coming down to the wire. While there are often runaway favorites at this point in the season, the award could really go to one of three different players. Between Joel Embiid, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Nikola Jokic, there are three great choices for MVP this season.
Each putting up huge numbers on dominant teams, Embiid, Jokic, and Antetokounmpo all fit the criteria for league MVP. While there is no official criteria for the award, the best player on the best team often becomes at least a finalist, and that player this season would be Giannis Antetokounmpo. Both Antetokounmpo and Jokic have won the MVP award twice, while Embiid is looking to do it for the first time.
According to Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry, Embiid has taken a leap this season that is deserving of MVP. Speaking with Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report, Curry said, "I would say Joel [Embiid]. Any person you pick, their body of work could be compared to Jokic or Giannis. But Joel took a leap that I think a lot of people didn't expect because he was dominant already. That leap turned heads and put Philly in a great position. If I had to pick, it would be him."
For a basic breakdown without diving into advanced numbers, here are how the three MVP candidates stack up:
Joel Embiid: 33.0 PPG, 10.2 RPG, 4.2 APG, and the Philadelphia 76ers are 42-22 when he plays.
Giannis Antetokounmpo: 31.1 PPG, 11.8 RPG, 5.6 APG, and the Milwaukee Bucks are 46-16 when he plays.
Nikola Jokic: 24.9 PPG, 11.9 RPG, 9.9 APG, and the Denver Nuggets are 48-19 when he plays.
There are of course several other factors to consider for MVP outside of these numbers, but this does somewhat illuminate how close these three players are in many ways.
It is not often that three players are this deserving of MVP at this point in the season, but that is the case with Joel Embiid, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Nikola Jokic. It will be interesting to see what the voters decide, but Embiid has the support of Steph Curry.
