Revenge Game Could Be On Pace Tonight For Wizards, Gafford
The Wizards pick things up tonight in Dallas to take on Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, and the Dallas Mavericks. The Washington Wizards schedule has been brutal these last couple of weeks. The month of February only seems to be getting tougher for them. Things are really getting harder now as they may have taken a step backwards defensively as a unit after trading away their former starting Center Daniel Gafford to the Mavericks.
Daniel Gafford was the heart and soul of this team defensively. Ever since trading him, their defense seems to look very different now. This is a bit of an adjustment period for them that they are hoping to come out top from soon.
The action will kick off tonight at 8:30 PM Eastern Times. It’s always good to see former players in their return to play against their former teams. It should be nothing but love between the two sides as moving on from Gafford was a business decision that really makes a lot of sense for the two.
Being the leader of the Washington Wizards, Kyle Kuzma certainly appreciated everything Daniel Gafford has done in his contributions to the team. Gafford recently had his best game as a member of the Dallas Mavericks as they blew out the Oklahoma City Thunder 146-111. Gafford was a huge reason for their success in that game as he scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds in just 17 minutes of playing time. He shot 64% from the field in that game too. Kuzma showed love to Gafford in a recent Instagram post.
Gafford will look to have a duplicate of that game. The Wizards will need to keep a body on him as they have became an even smaller team now.
They will already have a challenging task of contending with Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. Those are battles you generally don’t win. With that being said, they will need to take advantage of every possible opportunity that presents itself and that means crashing the boards. That will be the difference in this game. Daniel Gafford is an issue, however Dereck Lively is an even bigger issue and problem to deal with. The Wizards will need to display some form of toughness in this game.
