Three Reason Why Deni Avdija Has Evolved

Three Reasons Why Deni Avdija Seems To Be Progressing

This season for the Washington Wizards have shown some growing pains nonetheless. They currently stand with the second worst record in the entire league, while they are on an eight game losing streak while not winning a single game thus far for the month of February.

Bad news comes in waves at times. Jordan Poole is having a tough and difficult season as he has had multiple games of scoring in single digits this year including a scoreless game too. Additionally, Kyle Kuzma was snubbed for the All Star Game Festivities this weekend too. The list of negative things can go on and on for the Wizards however there is some good news involved too.

Deni Avdija seems to be evolving as a player this year. He secured the bag over the summer last year and now the investment the Wizards have made with him seems to be paying off. The story of Deni Avdija is becoming a great one and seems to be getting better and better by the day. Last night, he scored a career high 43 points. Over his last four games, Deni has averaged 28 PPG and 12 RPG. Why have things been clicking for Deni?

1. It’s His Time & Moment

At the young age of 23, he seems to be finding his comfort zone in the NBA. He entered the league at a very young age. He needed time to mature and find his footing and path in the league. He knows where he excels and needs to improve. He also knows his role. Not having Bradley Beal on this team anymore has given Deni the green light to step up and make plays. Bradley Beal even went on the record to show love to Deni because he sees what we all are seeing too. Deni’s confidence is growing as he looks to become a star on this team.

2. Jordan Poole

While Jordan Poole has been having a down season, he is still drawing attention from defenders. We know how things can suddenly change within the blink of an eye for Poole. He’s like a microwave on the court because once he gets hot, it’s hard to cool him off. That may be why he is struggling too. Opposing defenders don’t want him to even have the opportunity to get any buckets throughout each game.

3. Tyus Jones

Tyus Jones is something and someone a lot of teams don’t have anymore nowadays, a pure point guard. He is a floor general who looks to put his teammates first. Tyus Jones and Deni Avdija both understand and know how important team play is. Tyus is simply making the game easier for everyone on this team. Rather the Wizards keep Tyus Jones or not, having him on the team now will help Deni Avdija continue to grow both now and in the future.
