After a 7-9 season that saw them miss the playoffs for the second consecutive year, the New York Giants set out to make some much-needed upgrades to the offensive line and secondary.

They signed offensive guard Geoff Schwartz at the start of free agency and drafted center Weston Richburg of Colorado in the second round of the NFL draft. The Giants also welcomed in a new offensive coordinator, Packers quarterback coach Ben McAdoo, after Kevin Gilbride retired

New York saw several players depart, including wide receiver Hakeem Nicks (Colts), defensive linemen Linval Joseph (Vikings) and Justin Tuck (Raiders), and cornerback Corey Webster, who remains a free agent. But they acquired cornerbacks Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Walter Thurmond, Trumaine McBride and Zack Bowman, running back Rashad Jennings, and selected LSU wide receiver Odell Beckham in the first-round of the draft. All things considered, they received a grade of B in SI.com's Giants offseason report card
