Falcons rookie Marquis Spruill tears ACL, out for season

Atlanta Falcons rookie linebacker Marquis Spruill tore his ACL in practice Wednesday and will miss the entire season, the team announced Thursday

Spruill was a fifth-round pick out of Syracuse. The 6-foot-1, 230-pound linebacker was an honorable mention on the All-ACC team his senior year. In 2013, he recorded 66 solo tackles, 14.5 tackles for a loss and 5.5 sacks.

Spruill was listed as third-string on the Falcons' first unofficial depth chart of the season.
