The Carolina Panthers have ruled out running back DeAngelo Williams for the team's game on Sunday against the Chicago Bears due to his high ankle sprain.

Earlier on Wednesday, Williams tweeted a picture of himself with a pink cast on his right leg. The team announced Wednesday that Williams is scheduled to get his cast off on Friday.

The running back was injured in the first half of Carolina's 38-14 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

The Panthers are currently thin at the running back position due to a slew of injuries. Jonathan Stewart has a sprained knee and did not play last week against the Ravens, though he returned to practice on Wednesday. Mike Tolbert is on the short-term IR list due to a hairline fracture in his left leg.

Carolina hosts Chicago this Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
