Asked about the possibility of keeping running back Frank Gore, San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York told the San Francisco Chronicle, "I think we'll figure out a way. That's my feeling."

Gore, 32 in May, is due to become a free agent for the first time in his career on Tuesday. He has played all 10 of his seasons with the 49ers, appearing in a full 16 games over each of the past four seasons and five overall.

[daily_cut.nfl]Last season, Gore rushed 255 times for 1,106 yards and four touchdowns. He also caught 11 passes for 111 yards and a touchdown.

In 2011, Gore signed a three-year, $21 million contract extension. He made $3.3 million in each of the past two seasons for a cap hit of $6.45 million. Reports have indicated Gore is seeking $4 million annually this off-season.

“We want him back,” York said to the Chronicle’s Ann Killion. “I think he wants to be here. I know he wants to be here. And I think we'll figure out a way to do it. We'll definitely try. I think we'll figure out a way. That’s my feeling.”

Among active players, Gore's 2,442 career rushing attempts rank second only to Steven Jackson's 2,743. Gore's 11,073 career rushing yards are also second only to Jackson's 11,388.
