The Minnesota Vikings have traded linebacker Gerald Hodges to the San Francisco 49ers for center Nick Easton and a sixth-round pick, the team announced Tuesday.

In four games this season, Hodges has recorded 20 combined tackles for the Vikings. San Francisco acquired Easton from the Baltimore Ravens in September, and he has yet to appear in a regular season game.

Hodges can provide depth for the 49ers defense, which lost linebackers Patrick Willis and Chris Borland to retirement in the off-season. John Sullivan and Joe Berger are the centers listed on Minnesota’s depth chart.

The 1–3 49ers play the New York Giants in Week 5. The 2–2 Vikings are on a bye until their Week 6 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
