Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck has been playing with cracked ribs since Week 3, Jay Glazer reported on a live Fox Sports broadcast Sunday.

Luck has also been dealing with a shoulder injury and Glazer reported that combination of the two injuries has had a serious affect on him.

Luck missed the next two games after suffering the injury, however, the rib injury was not yet made public.

Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com reports that the Colts announced that this is the first they’ve heard about this injury. If the team was aware of the injury and did not disclose it on the injury report, it could be subject to a penalty, including fines or the loss of a draft pick.

Colts general manager Ryan Grigson released a statement in response to the story:

A league spokesman confirmed to Mike Berman of WTTV in Indianapolis that it will investigate whether the Colts were truthful with their injury reports.

Luck has struggled so far this season, completing just 56.2 percent of his passes. In five games played, he has thrown for 1398 yards, 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

The Colts (3–4) currently sit atop the AFC South standings. They play the Carolina Panthers on the road Monday.
