New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman, who sustained a broken foot during the Patriots’ Week 10 win over the New York Giants, made a surprisingly early return to practice on Friday.

Edelman had a screw inserted into his foot during surgery the following Monday. He was expected to miss six to eight weeks, yet the wideout made a return to the practice field just over three weeks after the procedure.

Alongside him on the field was tight end Rob Gronkowski, who practiced for a second straight day after straining his knee on Nov. 29.

Week 14 Odds: Brady, Patriots favored over Texans on Sunday night

Without the pair, quarterback Tom Brady has looked to wideout Brandon LaFell and tight end Scott Chandler as his top targets.

The Patriots (10–2) play the Texans (6–6) on Sunday Night Football this week at 8:30 p.m. ET.
