Report: San Diego Chargers place S Eric Weddle on injured reserve
The San Diego Chargers have placed safety Eric Weddle on injured reserve, reports Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Weddle was placed against his wishes and was recently fined by the team, according to a separate report from the Union-Tribune.
Weddle, a five-time All-Pro, sustained a groin injury during the Chargers’ loss to the Oakland Raiders last Thursday. The nine-year veteran, who has played for San Diego his entire career, is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent this off-season.
Weddle played in 13 games this year, recording 77 tackles. This is the first season of Weddle’s career he did not record an interception. He had also not missed a game due to injury since 2009.
