Panthers’ Thomas Davis wants to play in Super Bowl despite broken arm

Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davistold reporters he broke his arm during the NFC Championship Game but still hopes to play in the Super Bowl.

Davis broke his right forearm attempting to tackle Darren Fells early in Sunday’s game against the Cardinals. The Panthers advanced to the Super Bowl with a 49–15 win over Arizona.

Davis—despite his injury—guaranteed to reporters he would play in two weeks.

Davis is no stranger to miraculous recoveries. In 2011, the linebacker tore his ACL for the third time in three years. By returning the next season, Davis became the first NFL player to return to action from three ACL tears.

The linebacker’s wife posted an Instagram on Monday morning indicating Davis would be undergoing surgery on his arm.

Now in his 11th year, Davis recorded 105 tackles with four forced fumbles and four interceptions during the regular season.
